Macy's Day Parade Weather
John Neue

The World's Largest Parade

Every year since 1924, Macy has hosted the world's largest parade in New York City, and this year is no different. For three hours, the event will be broadcasted and viewed in person by an estimated 3.5 million people or more.

Incoming Gales Expected

Along with Thanksgiving however comes cold weather. For the 92nd anniversary of the parade, it is expected that the winds of winter will be hitting New York in full force making Thanksgiving Day one of the coldest days yet in the fall season of 2018.

We encourage anyone attending the parade to bundle up! All the following are items you should consider wearing to the parade:

  • Outerware - Coats, Jackets, and Hoodies
  • Warm Accessories - Hats, Gloves, and Scarves
  • Closed Toed Shoes - Boots, Closed Sneakers, with Long Socks

Estimated Temperatures

Along with the gusty 20+ mile per hour winds that are expected, the temperature is expected to fall below 30 degrees Fahrenheit, so definitely make sure to put on those layers!

Did You Know? The Macy's Day Parade is tied with America's Thanksgiving Parade in Detroit in age. The oldest Thanksgiving parade is Philadelphia's Thanksgiving Day Parade which started in 1920.
